Task Number 1
Record The Olympic Creed And explain how the
Olympics began
The Olympic Creed is basically a motto, it goes as
follows:
"The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well"
The motto in Latin is "Citius, Altius, Fortius" - which translates in English as "Swifter, Higher, Stronger"
The Olympic Games began over 2,700 years ago in Olympia (Surprise Surprise), In rural sanctuary site in the western Peloponnesos.
The sanctuary was named in antiquity after Mt. Olympos
It was primarily a part of a religious festival in honor of Zeus, The father of the Greek gods and goddesses.
The Greeks that came to the Sanctuary of Zeus at Olympia shared the same religious beliefs and spoke the same language. The athletes were all male citizens of the city-states from every corner of the Greek world, coming from as far away as Iberia (Spain) in the west and the Black Sea (Turkey) in the east.

History
Whitewater slalom racing started in Europe and in the 1940s, and the International Canoe Federation was formed. The first World Championships were held in 1949 in Switzerland.
It became an Olympic sport in 1972 but it was not seen again till 1992 and has been continuing since.
History of
Boats
In the early 1960s, boats were made of fiberglass and nylon. Boats were heavy, usually over 30 kilos. With the advent of kevlar and carbon fiber being used in the 1970s, the widths of the boats were reduced by the ICF, and the boats were reduced in volume to pass the gates, and boats have become much lighter and faster.
