What is privacy?

Privacy is something which is:-

  • Secret.
  • Helps individuals maintain their autonomy and individuality.
  • Human right.
  • Something which is sensitive.

Let's talk about Data privacy...

Eg:- SSN, Bank account details, Personal health info,etc

Some facts you didn't know before:-

Data privacy relates to how a piece of information—or data—should be handled based on its relative importance

When data that should be kept private gets in the wrong hands, bad things can happen

  • The GDPR’s Article 83 states that companies can be subject to fines of up to €20 million or 4% of total worldwide turnover on data privacy violation!
  • Google has already been fined over €50 million for data privacy violation in France.

but, why is it a serious issue bro?

Well...

nothing to hide!

  • Is traceable.
  • Might expose your little dirty secrets.

In short any micro/tiny details you upload it is vulnerable.

  • Use ENCRYPTION for sensitive data.
  • Enforcing multi-factor authentication.
  • Keep an eye out for strange requests.
  • Read app permissions before you allow.
  • Use good passwords.
  • Don't share more than you have to.
