oBJECTIVES
Create a usable, good looking and flexible
environment to showcase and
make the Toolkits available for all on the Web
How we did that?
- Creation of a small working group (Roots: #CCSummit2013)
- 1 problem? 3 planners and just one developer...
- So we decided to host a hackathon in Buenos Aires, Argentina. We needed more devs and some designers
- Creation of some communication assets to promote the event
- Relations with the local community (CC Argentina & Wikimedia Argentina)
- Spam, spam, spam
-
Host a hackathon!
What did we used?
- Design: Adobe Suite (but open formats for the outputs), icons from The Noun Project, LayerVault
- Development: HTML5, CSS3, GitHub, Wordpress
- Planning: Google Docs, Dropbox, Etherpad, a few cups of coffee
WELCOME TO CCTOOLKITSCOM! (PROBABLY TOOLKITS.CREATIVECOMMONS.ORG SOON)
Let´s take a ride!
Tips
- Feed your hackathon atendees =P
- After the excitment of the Hackathon (The first CC hackathon in Argentina!), the working rythm drops significantly (Everyone has jobs, duties, relax times, etc.) so
- Try to finish everything at the event
- Make a mailing list and keep up the relations with the participants
- Ask them about their deliverables frequently but understand that everyone has other things to do
- Keep a solid communication with the small working group to help each other and make it to the deadline
