Carrier Manifests

Carrier Manifests

When a shipping label is generated, that label is not loaded into the carrier system until the package has been

picked by the carrier. Many times when a carrier driver go to pick up the shipments on a warehouse there are several and is hard to scan all labels per shipment, here is when manifest do the trick. A manifest is a document generated by the carriers to consolidate all shipments related to a date, and when the carrier driver scan manifest all shipments related to that will be load to system.

In some cases the shipments aren't even billed until the manifest is scanned.

  1. what do i do when a customer says that the manifest isn't generating?
  2. what info are the carriers looking for on a manifest?
  3. why would a few tracking numbers being missing from a manifest and what to do?
  4. why is dhl evil when it comes to manifests?

Answers:

  • Ask customer which date and what carrier are they trying to manifest, escalate  with simone team they will be able to see the logs and trying to regenerate whether is possible.
  • It depends on each carrier, but basically they want the info of the number of shipments and the weight of the shipments included on that manifest.

  • Some tracking numbers are missing due a current implementation is generating timeouts on api response, when it happen ask customer whether they can provide info about which tracking numbers were not included on the manifest and escalate to simone.
  • This answer is similar to previous, due some customers send a lot of shipments generated on that date, that cause an API timeount from DHL causing the manifest is not generated correctly.

Batch Manifest

Currently is on beta testing a new implementation of manifest  via batch instead of how is being doing so far.

This new implementation is intended to reduce manifest

errors due carriers API timeouts.

The account that is using this implementation is 1539

Batch Manifest

How it works

Customer select date to manifest, they click on manifest and all shipments related for that date will be manifest as current implementation, with the difference customer will get an email at the end, when all shipments has been processed.
