Born in Newark, Ohio on April 8th, 1871, Clarence worked as a bookkeeper for his father’s grocery business in his youth.
His first photograph was on his honeymoon in 1893. Soon after, in 1896, he had his first exhibited work. White founded the Newark Camera Club, met popular photographers such as F. Holland Day and Alfred Stieglitz, and was elected an honorary member of the New York Camera Club in 1899.
