From 1937-1945 China had been at war with Japan. Most of China's citizens were unemployed, the country side had food shortages, and China's population increased by fourteen million a Year.
Mao Zedong was born Shaoshan, China. His father Mao Zedong was a wealthy peasant. When Mao turned seventeen he left home to go to secondary education in Changsha. In 1911 the Xinhua Revolution began against the monarchy, weakening China as a whole.
In 1918 Mao Zedong graduated from hunan first normal school, and moved to Beijing but was unable to find a job. In 1921 Mao Zedong became one of the inaugural members of the Chinese Communist Party. He ruled china for 23 years. (1949-1962, 1966- 1976)
Mao Zedong's rule was for the people, He distributed land to all, and opposed Landlords. This caused many people to like Mao, He has ruled with an even but stern fist thought his time in power.
Mao Zedong wanted to revolutionize China to become a great nation under communist rule. He wanted to bring China back up to the top after the war between China and Japan.
Mao Zedong impacted China greatly, he started a revolution that spread across China causing it to become a communist state. His plan "The Great leap Forward" caused over 40 million deaths due to starvation. He is remembered as both a Genocidal monster and a political genius.
Mao Zedong believed that the old culture of china needed to be eradicated from history, he shut down trade and market commerce. Also Mao believed that China should be self reliant on its own industry and strength, and that the peasants should hold more power.
Mao Zedong died September 9th 1976 in Beijing. He suffered from Parkinson's disease. He lived to be 82 years old.
Mao Zedong was the first person in his family to attend secondary education. He wrote 68 poems about the great spirit of Chinese nation and the uplifting principles of the communist party. "The moon over the Qin bower" This poem portrays a brutal battle scene.
