You can easily import pre-existing .pdf or .pptx files into Slides.com presentations
This makes it easy to share pre-existing resources without having to re-create them in a new program
Viewer's individual playback of Slides.com presentations can be Controlled LIVE by the Presenter
Clicking 'Present' generates a link to a view of the slides that snycs.
When the presenter advances the slides, everyone else's view will follow - keeping everyone on the same page
You can share/embed Whiteboards
Using awwapp.com , the boards can either be read-only, editable by everyone, or 'everyone gets their own copy'
Use case 1: Use this as the whiteboard, and record a video of your voice+screen using the 'Screencastify' browser extension
Use case 2: Teacher presents live by modifying the board, everyone watches
Use case 3: Teacher assigns a task, everyone attempts it, they 'share' with the teacher (who can spot-check to see progress), they export and submit at the end
Try editing this board for example!
Voice-chat with your class by making a 'Discord' Channel
Discord is a Teleconferencing app, they have recently increased the offering of their free plan to accomodate classroom teachers coping with the effects of Coronavirus
This can be used to speak to the whole class to give explanations or announcements
Sign up at discordapp.com
Manage the settings so that new channel members are muted (to not let pupils interrupt or misbehave)
Give pupils an invite-link to the channel (can even be embedded in your slides)
The teacher can also assign pupils to separate channels for teamwork pairs, or to give private spoken feedback
Easily record teaching videos
Use the loom.com or screencastify.com browser extensions
Super simple and quick installation, can capture screen, microphone, and web-cam, and share the videos with a link
Here is an example of my own timetabling website at https://JayTeach.as.meĀ (I'm happy to accept tutoring referrals if you know of any pupils who want tutoring)
It is a stand-alone website (hosted for free by Acuity), but I've embedded it here to demonstrate that Slides.com can nest websites inside presentations.
If you want to learn more about using Slides.com for teaching, here's my presentation on that (nested!)
