In 1980 my parents bought a cabin at Higgins Lake. It is on the American Legion property on the North part of the lake. The cabin sits about 15 feet away from my grandma and grandpa's house they built and where they live. As a child, we used to go to "the lake" every weekend. It is a small space but holds so many memories.

As an adult, the tradition continues that summer time is spent at the lake when possible.
My children love going to Higgins and spending time with their grandparents and great grandparents.
We are lucky enough to have 5 generations experience the beauty and fun of Higgins Lake.

Our favorite weekend to go up North is 4th of July. Most of the people that have cabins in the area are there.
There are a lot of traditions built into that weekend alone:
Skiing, wake boarding, and riding the jet ski are favorites of the kids

Campfires of all sizes. Most will include some sort of music whether it is a radio, or all the neighbors with their instruments.
And of course smores.

My favorite tradition about Higgins Lake is family. We will usually have a weekend or two with aunts, uncles, and cousins when they come to visit grandpa. This family picture was taken at grandpa's 99th birthday celebration.
