Yesterday Samsung's Galaxy S8 and S8+ became available for pre-orders.

They are getting attention for their design.

S8 is 5.8 inches with a resolution of

2960 by 1440

S8+ is 6.2 inches with the same resolution

These are very sharp displays

The display is also tall. Unlike the traditional 16:9 ratio, it is 18.5:9

But what's catching the most attention is what Samsung is calling Infinity Display. The display bends around the edges.

It's a lot smoother bend than that of the S7

Physical buttons are now replaced with software buttons. These buttons can be rearranged.

Because of this, the fingerprint reader is now on the back

It's placed alongside the camera which is kind of awkward because this is a very tall phone.

Most people probably won't be able to reach it easily.

Having the Fingerprint reader on the back worked well on the Google Pixel because it' was placed lower and is a lot smaller phone.

Google Pixel

S8 is water resistant and has:

- USB-C

- Headphone jack

- Iris Scanner

It also has a Micro SD Card. Memory won't be an issue.

Some companies should take a note *cough* Apple 👀

The camera is the same

12 MP they had in the S7.

The biggest issue is likely going to be battery life. The S8 has a 3000mAh battery and the S8+ has 3500mAh.

This is average, but they made the resolution very sharp so the phones will consume a lot more battery power

(Display is the biggest

consumer of battery power)

A new addition is an assistant called Bixby. It provides you with Cards that have information like time, weather and calendar.

(Like the Google assistant)

This is an android phone so it already comes with the Google assistant.

It's kind of  redundant to have 2 assistants that do the exact same thing.
