Introduction

How it works

On the tablet provided, you can control your home. Any command (turn a light on/off, stop the washing machine, change the refrigerator mode) you request is sent to a receiving device placed somewhere in your home that is connected to the Wi-Fi system through ethernet. The device then orders different objects in your home. For example, if you want to stop the power from flowing through your phone's charger (because it's already fully charged), then the tablet will tell the receiver, which will then contact the smart plug through which is connected  your phone's charger via wireless connection.

 

But that isn't all. Electro can do much more. Let's take our previous example. The phone may be charged, but what if you don't necessarily know it? Electro will notify you. Due to its connectivity with any electronic device, you can install an app which controls your home, right from your smartphone. The app also monitors your phone (no, we're not spying on you) and sends the data to the receiver, which sends the data to our tablet, so that the tablet can tell you when your phone is fully charged.

But wait...

We've already covered the controlling part. Now it's time for the data part.

Remember that chart that talked about the three factors of sustainable development? Electro uses the three to give you a sustainable experience. The question you're probably asking is: But what role does economy play in all of this?

That's not all!

Let me tell you what: economy basically means money. Money. That's what all humans think about. And Electro was partially designed to save money. Using our receiver and tablet, you can save money. 

Electro is smart. It can tell when you're using something, or when you're not. With the tablet and the receiver, you are given many more components. One of the many is a heat sensor that you can install in each room. The sensor senses body heat in the room. After 5 minutes, if there is nobody in the room, all lights will automatically shut off. If a Smart TV is on, it will go into standby, unless it is performing an important task, like downloading an app or a software update. If there are any computers, they will be left on.

 

Electro tracks your data. You can set goal for your monthly bills. If you want to pay $1500 instead of $2000, Electro will try its best to find ways to save electricity in your home. You can also look at your current usage through graphs if you want to set goals for the following months. 

Components

  • Solar-powered Tablet
  • Receiver

  • Smart power sockets (They're controlled by the receiver. You start with five, but you can buy more later on)

  • Heat sensor (You start with one, but you can buy more later on)

  • Fuse box controller

  • Smart light switches (They're controlled by the receiver, and, again, you start with five, but you can buy more after)

-Electro comes with a set of components. It's good to know what they are if you want to buy this product later on

Electro is compatible. Not only does it come with a solar-powered tablet, but it also provides support for Android 4.3+, iOS 8+, Mac OSX Mavericks+, and Windows 7+.

Android. The Electro app can be installed on your Android device. The app monitors your phone, so when your screen has been on for a specific amount of time, the app will make sure that it is locked to save energy. Prefer your good ol' phone instead of that "weird tablet"? Well don't worry! Just like the tablet, the Electro app can also control your beautiful eco-home.

Apple. Like Android, the Electro app can also be installed on your Mac or iDevice.  The app monitors both your phone and your computer at the same time, so if you were doing  something on one device, then you could continue on the other.

Windows. Like Android and Apple devices, you can install the Electro program on your Windows computer. The features are the same as Android.

Not only is Electro compatible with smartphones and computers, but you can also control and manage the following electronics:

Any smart ThinQ appliance from LG

Any Smart Home appliance from Samsung

Any Solar Panel

The Eva smart shower (if it's funded!)

Electro is environment-conscious. It is made from recycled material and old computer parts. All of the pieces are recyclable.

Product Pros and Cons

Although Electro may seem to be a cool invention, every product has its own limits! Here are a few pros and cons for Electro.

Pros

  • Saves the planet and your money
  • Nice Interface
  • Compatible with many other electronic devices (From smartphones to your washing machine)
  • Made from recycled material
  • Recyclable

Cons

  • Expensive to produce, thus affecting the cost of the product
  • Not installable on your own (you need an electrician)
  • Complex system; it takes time to get familiar with the tablet and/or app
