What advanced medicine was used during WWII?

  • Sulfanilamide was used to prevent infection
  • Morphine was used as a painkiller 
  • Penicillin was used to help wounded or ill soldiers

  • Sulfanilamide was effective and helped with minor cuts.
  • Morphine was stong, addictive, and the proper dosage was unclear.
  • Penicillin worked very well and help with the more infectious diseases

  • .45 cal M1911 pistol  was commonly used by infantry, tank crew, and pilots.
  • The Thompson was the U.S. standard submachine gun that was expensive.
  • M1 Garand was the standard infantry rifle.

  • LORAN was a navigation system similar to the GEE. 
  • Radar was initially used for early detection.
