DC Connect-Related Advantages
A deck (presentation) can be embedded into several sections of the same course. Editing one deck would then update all of your sections.
You can put your slide deck directly into DC Connect, as we have done in Virtual CAFE. Students remain within the learning environment when reviewing content.
You Can: link to other resources
You Can: Include a background image
YOU CAN: INCLUDE A BACKGROUND IMAGE You can: Animate your bullet points
YOU CAN: Embed Video
VIDEO Works natively with YouTube and Vimeo.
You Can: "FORK" Your Presentation
Instead of presenting in a sequential order,
you can make "forks" (or "branches") to:
cover topics with varied levels of depth
skip topics or sections easily
show which slides are closely related
note the current slide number in the bottom corner
add visual interest (maybe?)
Try pressing "down" instead of "right" here.
This Is a Fork
Note the slide number in the bottom corner.
Now you can press "up" to go back,
or "right" to proceed to the next topic.
Disadvantages
Free plan is limited (e.g. a deck cannot be exported to a handout format for students to download and view offline)
Import options are limited
Less control over animations/transitions than PowerPoint
Less ease of inserting software-specific content - most notably tables
