From prelim to project

The Prelim's Brief

"Continuity task involving filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue. This task should demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180-degree rule."

This is how I initially approached the brief:

THEN: Prioritise the inclusion of good continuity techniques above a good script

FIRST: Create a story that fits the actions cited in the brief leading up to the dialogue

Things we did in pre-production:

Construct a storyboard of events.

Create a very rough shoot board.

Do a very rough recce of the location.
