• What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
I used many different media platforms in order to complete my coursework such as slides.com, blogger, prezi, visme, slideshare, glogster, mixbook, and many more. I tried to use as many different platforms as I could to show my awareness that I have.
I also scanned in written work, uploaded images, worked from different applications; word, PowerPoint, InDesign, Photoshop. In using all of these, I’ve gained skills that I never had before and I’ve been able to learn how to use each program efficiently. I also used technology in the areas of production during my photo-shoot, where I used a Canon 7D camera instead of my iPhone 5c to produce more sleek high quality images, high tech lighting to ensure all images came out needing minimum editing and again a more professional look, mac computers and a MacBook pro laptop to edit, update and modify work. I also depended highly on my memory stick, which allowed me to complete my work in my own time at home. Using the Internet explorer to Google images and research areas where I needed information helped me massively as I could rely on many websites to provide me with information, which I could merge into my coursework. E.g. Research on existing distributing companies. I Googled images of R&B magazines to act as a guideline for my production also. I underestimated how much technology impacted the production of a media product, and I never realised how many programs, software, applications, web pages, etc. could help during my preproduction, throughout production and postproduction. Also the future has a lot to offer in the music industry, a lot of magazines are becoming online versions to view on the Internet and as apps. This will soon become a lot more popular because so many people use technology rather than hard copies of products. Which is also helping the advertising of magazines and updates of magazine brands. For example for my magazine I made sure to include social media icons which in the real world would have links to official accounts where I’d post updates of my magazine to increase it’s awareness and popularity. Overall, I have gained many new skills that I have learnt through making my magazine and I think that I have applied them successfully and adequately in my production.
