My Narrative Outline- START
Todorov (Equilibrium)
A new male teacher has began a new job at the school, he was from america. He starts teaching a new maths class at the beginning of the year and began teaching a new student called Louise. She is known as one of the most popular girls in school and also the prettiest, but struggles with maths and not exactly the most clever in her class or year. The head of maths requests the new teacher (Mr Chair) to give her extra help and support.
My Narrative Outline- MIDDLE
When it came to the end of school she needed to go to the extra help lessons, they begin to start the lesson and she becomes un-focused and distracted by looking at herself in the mirror. When the new teacher starts to get frustrated he takes the mirror and phone of her until the support lesson is finished. She begins to get very agitated and refuses to learn more so he decides to let her go home. The next day she doesn't have a maths lesson but is still reluctant to learn and also begins to grow a massive hatred over the new teacher (Mr Chair) she decides to get her own back by going to the headteacher and say that he touched her in a sexual way/manner even though she know how serious this type of thing is to accuse people of. The headteacher took immediate action and decided to call the police and take his job away from him even though he needed it so much to provide for his family who have just moved. The police charged him with no evidence.
Todorov- (THE 'Minor' DISRUPTION)- Louise decides to tell lies to the headteacher which is seen as something very serious to others, this is seen as the disruption because it affects how the story goes and how it unfolds.
My Narrative Outline- END
Todorov (Part Disruption but also an attempt to repair it)
After begging his boss to get his job back he then was placed in the same job as a maths teacher. 6 months later after being accused he was needed to teach a one to one support session, to his surprise Louise. They were both very uncomfortable but the teacher decided to get on with it, but began to get angry with the smallest things she did e.g. get a question wrong so he took matters into his own hands. He made sure no one was in the school building as it was late in the evening before closing the blinds and forcing himself on to her even through her resistance. He then whispered to her 'no one will believe you now'. Louise managed to survive this but the experience she faced made her realize that she needed to tell someone about what the teacher had done before something like this was to happen again. She first told her best friend then began to tell more a more people but no one believed her. When she got home she decided to do some research with him being from america, she searches and searches and finds something about his old job, she reads into it a figures out that he got fired from his old job and went on the run because he was wanted for high pedophilia against his students.
Relative Theorists
Todorov- Starts on a level of normality with the film being in a school so everything is seen as normal, and then gradually moves on to things going wrong etc. (Conflict and resolution)
Levi-Strauss- There are many binary opposites within the film idea e.g. student Vs teacher, teen Vs adults. parent Vs child,
Propp- The only character types within the film is the villian (who is the teacher), the hero (being the police), the false hero (being the headteacher teacher)
MAIN CHARACTERS
Main School Girl: (Louise), seen as being an attention seeker, who is very popular, seen in the film as no one knows who she really is.
