Britain has exported more than five million cars so far this decade – its best ever performance.
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders said 102,981 cars built in the UK were sold overseas in July, taking the total since the start of 2010 to 5,095,796.
At this stage of the last decade – a record 10.7million cars were exported in 2000-09 – some 4.95million had been sold to overseas buyers.
