Theatrical Vs Teaser Trailer

Research and planning

We have begun to look into the possible types of trailers we could create for our final cut, specifically theatrical or teaser.

We watched both the theatrical and teaser trailers of Hulk, The Omen and Texas Chainsaw Massacre and then created a timeline. The line drawn above represents the level of intensity and climax building and lines cut across signify the cuts made in the trailer.

What is the difference between a theatrical and teaser trailer?

Theatrical trailers are usually 2 minutes and shown in theatres related to a similar genre right before the film's release. It often involves the most comedic or dramatic scenes of the films to interest the audeince.

Teaser trailers however, are much shorter in time (usually 30 seconds) and are found online, on tv and in theatres quite a long time before the film's release
