The genre is realistic fiction because it hasn't happened yet but could happen in the future.
Robie is an experienced traveler who has taken the flight from Honolulu to the Midway Atoll many times. When she has to get to Midway in a hurry after a visit with her aunt in Hawaii, she gets on the next cargo flight at the last minute. She knows the pilot, but there’s a new co-pilot named Max. All systems are go until a storm hits during the flight and an engine suddenly cuts out.
And then . . . she’s in the water, fighting for her life. Max pulls her onto the raft, and that’s when the real terror begins. They have no water. Their only food is a bag of Skittles. There are sharks. There are islands miles and miles away. But there’s no sign of help on the way. Will Robie and Max survive? Find out in the book "The Raft."
Max and Robie are in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with no water, a bag of skittles, and no sign of help. They don't know if they will be rescued or if they will make it out alive.
The theme of this book is to never give up because in the end it could turn out fine.
The story is told from Robie's point of view which is first person.
I would rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars because it is an amazing book that kept me on the edge of my seat.
I would recommend this book to 6th graders and up because there are some words that younger kids wouldn't understand.
