According to my interview with head coach Tom Waiters:
All coaches,
no matter the sport or the level of play,
look to win games.
They also seek to impact the character of their players positively and
ensure their players succeed academically
To help them accomplish their goals, coaches read:

Based on my interview with Coach Waiters, I learned that coaches write the same things that they read.
In tandem, the genres coaches read and write on a regular basis help them accomplish their objectives.
The most important, genre, however, are the plays. If the plays as a genre are adjusted or changed in anyway, a coach's job and the team's performance would change.
So, if you are still interesting in being a high school basketball coach, here are the skills you need to develop in college through course work:
Critical reading and writing skills
Public speaking
Physical therapy
Here are some intangible skills worth developing in and outside of classes:
Leadership
Communication skills
Interpersonal skills
