Jim carrey


Early career


James Eugene Carrey was born in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. He originally worked at a steel mill, he was in a band called The Spoons, and had experience working at a science testing facility in Ontario.  He was struggling to find a stable career in comedy and entertainment. Eventually he was picked up by many different comedians and was featured in live performances for stand up comedians.  His film career hit of in 1994 when he stared in Ace Ventura : Pet Detective. Carrey said at an interview whilst the film was being made, "Being Ace really made me feel relaxed and able to be myself as i was acting".

Rise to fame

Many more opportunities were given to Carrey after he became more popular. He was eventually earning around 212 million dollars for his roles. Critics called him a 'fresh new face 
in comedy'. He received his first Golden Globe Award for Best Actor after 'The Mask'. He was recognized as a wacky kind of actor. However, he played the lead role in The Number 23, a horror/thriller where he becomes obsessed by the number 23.  Eventually he realizes he is cured and is driven insane. For this movie he had to completely change his style of acting.  

What makes him so good?

Carrey has ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder).
In many movies he plays to he strengths and uses is disability as an ability to entertain.
