Sometimes it involves scheduling a dental appointment or procedure, while the dentist will sometimes give you an overview of what you can do at home to improve your oral health.

If you understand when your dentist can recommend a dental brace or crown, you can decide which option is best for you. Your dentist can examine X-rays to look for cavities and other problems and will ask if you have any questions about your teeth.

Your state's dental board will provide all the information you need to pass the exam to become a dentist. Once your dental examination is complete, your dentist will advise you on your next steps and inform you exactly what is going on in your mouth.  
    
Perri Sansi If your hygienist or dentist finds signs of illness, you may need to see a doctor. If a general dentist sees a patient who needs additional treatment, he can refer him to a dentist for treatment.
    
While some dentists use a team to care for patients with more complex care needs, others may also specialise in specialised fields such as orthopaedics, orthodontics, dentistry or dental hygiene.

Pardip Sansi There are many dentists who specialise in different fields, but there is no need for a dentist to practise general dentistry. In fact, most of what a general dentist does can be considered "general" dentist.

Most dentists are self-employed and offer dental care to the general public, who know them as practitioners. Outside dentistry, you only know people who are probably not experts, such as employees who work directly for the dentist or patients.  
    
Dental assistants can polish, explain the correct dental hygiene to patients and perform procedures such as cleaning teeth. Some dental assistants - patients contact occurs when you are working with the dentist on procedures that could benefit from additional help.

Some dentists will also refer you to specialists and you may notice a difference between a general dentist and an endodontist, a specialist dentist or a dentist. Given this information, someone with toothache should see a general dentist or root canal specialist. A general dentist can perform root canals, but he could also refer the patient to an endodontist for this procedure.
