In the book "Outliers: The Story of Success" explores factors that contributed to the high levels of success of some individuals.


Gladwell repeatedly refers to the “10 000-hour rule,” asserting that the key to achieving true expertise in any skill is simply a matter of practicing, albeit in the correct way, for at least 10 000 hours.

How to set goals & track them!

OKR Framework

Objectives and key results (OKR, alternatively OKRs) is a goal setting framework used by individuals, teams, and organizations to define measurable goals and track their outcomes

Companies use OKR, including Google, Spotify, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Airbnb.

I will ________ as measured by ____________.

 

A proper goal has to describe both what you will achieve and how you are going to measure its achievement

An Example of Tech OKR

I will fix the website for the vast majority of people as measured by 7 out of 10 people being able to get through, a 1 second response time, and a 1% error rate

Goal Setting & Measuring

OKRs comprise an objective (a significant, concrete, clearly defined goal)

3-5 key results (measurable success criteria used to track the achievement of that goal)

Objectives are memorable qualitative descriptions of what you want to achieve. Objectives should be short, inspirational and engaging. 

 

 

Key Results are a set of metrics that measure your progress towards the Objective. 

All Key Results have to be quantitative and measurable

  • did a famous drowning rats psychology experiment which showed the power of hope.

Having hope & self-belief we can do much more than our capabilities
