The haggis is a traditional Scottish dish made from sheep's offal (heart, liver, and lungs) mixed with onions, oats, spices, and suet. It's cooked inside a sheep's stomach and has a distinctive savory taste. Haggis is a symbol of Scottish culture and tradition.
The vegemite rules the breakfast table. Vegemite is a dark, savory spread made from brewer's yeast extract, vegetables, and spices. Australians enjoy it spread thinly on toast, providing a unique and salty flavor that's an acquired taste.
In the Philippines, we discover a unique street food called balut. Balut is a boiled fertilized duck embryo eaten directly from the shell. While it may seem unusual to some, it holds a special place in Filipino cuisine and is often enjoyed as a snack or appetizer.
Let's head to South Korea, where kimchi reigns as a culinary staple. Kimchi is a traditional fermented side dish made from napa cabbage, radishes, garlic, ginger, and chili peppers. It offers a tangy, spicy, and slightly sour flavor that adds a punch to any meal.
In Brazil, we encounter feijoada, a hearty and flavorful dish that represents the country's culinary heritage. Feijoada is a black bean stew cooked with various cuts of pork, beef, and smoked sausages. It's often accompanied by rice, collard greens, and orange slices, creating a satisfying and traditional meal.
