HOW TO DIGITILIZE

CAMERA FOOTAGE

What does digitilizing mean?

Digitilizing means transforming different information such as camera footage into an electronic form such as computer film.

What do you need?

You need a camera, a usb import cable and a computer. For this presentation the camera I will be refering to is a Canon Legria HFR28.

There are seven steps into digitilizing camera footage.

  • The first would be making sure the camera footage was on the camera.
  • The second would be to turn on the computer and the camera and supply them with an electrical charge so that the batteries  do not run low.
  • The third step would be to connect the camera and computer together using the usb import lead.
  • The fourth step would be to press the playback button because the usb import lead is connected to both the computer and the camera it allows for the footage to be downloaded to the computer if the usb import lead was not present the playback button would allow you to watch your footage back.
  • The fifth step would be that the camera is showing a loading bar this indictates that thumbnails are being created so the camera will display in the computer application so the footage can be seen on the computer.
  • The sixth step would be to select your footage from the file and copy it to a safe place where you will remember it is such as your videos.
  • The final step would be to import it to a editing software to make the changes you want to the footage.
