How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My media product represents the social groups of low economic status, dependence and bullying. All of these social groups combined build to create a more in depth picture of the effects that appear when somebody becomes dependent on a substance such as alcohol.

I believe that my media product represents low economic status by showing the lack of money, they have I have shown this by adding a scene involving money. I have also shown the economic status through the clothes and make up I have decided to use in the opening sequence. I have included this social group as an addiction/dependence usually results in a lack of money because it is being spent on funding the substance.

I have included the social group of addiction/dependence because it is the main issue I was going to be focusing on for my opening sequence. The other issues appear as affects and problems caused by the dependent adult. I have shown the person to be dependent to alcohol be adding scenes of the adult drinking. This social group causes many other problems such as the children being isolated and bullied by their peers, dependence does not only affect the person that is dependent and I believe I have successfully shown this through my opening sequence.

I have also included bullying into the opening sequence to show that dependence does not only affect the person who is dependent and also creates problems and issues for the people around them. I have shown the woman’s children being cyber-bullied and bullied by other peers in different scenes. This social group is important when trying to portray the lack of motivation and responsibility that the woman has towards her life and her children’s.

In my opening sequence the theme of disability/ability is present showing the dependency to a substance. The use of mise-en-scene
