Dash Proposal

Community Stipends

Overview

This proposal would provide 'off treasury' stipends for community members to start and maintain small-scale projects

Background

  • A tale of two Dash users
    • Connie the community contributor
    • Matt the masternode operator

Proposal Motivation

  • Justify community contributor's time

  • Promote decentralization
  • Prepare future Core candidates

  • Schedule: 2-month admin charter, with three 1-month subcontractor charters
  • Budget: 30 DASH/month for 2 months for a total of 60 DASH for the project

Scope

The scope of work would involve vetting and funding several small, low-risk projects such as meetup groups, community-driven coding projects, etc.  Funded projects will have their own, separate scopes of work.

    • Proof of payment to RFP winners
    • End-of-term results report
  • RFP winners
    • Project proposals (using this format)
    • Own respective project deliverables

Schedule

The project could start with a two-month trial period.  An RFP would kick things off.  Three proposals would then be approved to commence work.  Admin deliverables are spelled out; subcontract deliverables would depend on approved projects.

Milestones

  • 2017-04-05 - Superblock payout
  • 2017-04-07 - Request for (off-treasury) proposal
  • 2017-04-14 - Proposal submission deadline
  • 2017-04-21 - Admin approves subcontractors, commence work
  • 2017-05-19 - Subcontractors report to admin w/complete SOWs
  • 2017-05-26 - Admin reports to MNOs/community
  • Depending on feedback, renew this charter w/ treasury proposal

Budget

The project could initially target a budget of 30 DASH/month for two (2) months, for a total of 60 DASH

Cost Items

  • Subcontracts - stipends to (3) proposals
  • Admin - expenses to administer the project
  • Service fees (meetup, slides, etc) + contingency
  • Proposal reimbursement

Cost Summary

Cost Item DASH Note
Subcontracts 30 See note 1
Admin 20 10 DASH/mo for (2) months
Misc services / contingency 5 See note 2
Proposal reimbursment 5
Total 60 30 DASH/mo for (2) months
  1. 10 DASH stipends to three (3) most compelling proposals, ~1 month of work
  2. 6-month subscription to slides.com premium, meetup.com fees, etc. for community use + contingency (tipping, unforeseen expenses, etc)

Summary

This project introduces formal subcontracting relationships in Dash.  This serves contractors, masternode operators, and the community as a whole

Key Benefits

  • Reduce cost of community contribution
  • Reduce cost of masternode governance
  • Incentivise community participation
  • Incentivise MNO participation

Final Thoughts

  • Happy to escrow funds
  • Anyone can act as admin
  • Dash Forum Poll:
    • This month (we have funds!)
    • next month (we need more time!)
    • not interesting

Thank You
