What the What?

RICH MEDIA, Wuh?

Before we jump in...

Who am I?

Ok, Let's Get STarted.

As it pertains to us in advertising,

Rich Media is all, but not limited  to the following.

Video, Ads containing video, ads that expand, interactive experiences

  It's really that simple.

WHAT MaKEs IT Different?

Rich Media typically costs the client more 💰 than standard media.  They are basically buying a better placement on the publisher (the site). Or, they are agreeing to pay for more bandwidth or k-weight.

WhY ARE RICH MEDIA SPECS INSANE?

The specifications come from the publisher. Each publisher has different specs based on their server, site design, etc.
A job of the media team e.g. MEC is to stay on top of these and to negotiate better prices and placements with publishers based on whatever the client's vision is.

Rich MEDIA Vendors?

The vendor actually creates the bit of embed code (the tag) and launches the advertisement. Vendors have relationships with different publishers (sites) and are sometimes chosen based on this.  Another competitive aspect is their ability to provide development teams with components that speed up production time. And a critical role that they play is ensuring that the unit runs in all browsers.

Some vendors include DoubleClick, Pointroll, FlashTalking and Sizmek.
