What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Editing software

Through constructing this product I have learnt a great deal about both software and hardware. Prior to this product I knew very little about editing software like final cut pro however now I feel like I have became more competent with it as before hand the extent of my knowledge was shortening clips and adding stock sounds from the software. Now however, I have learnt various new techniques that will benefit me in the future. I have learnt how to add titles to the product therefore allowing for allowing a more professional aesthetic.

Editing software

I also learnt how to balance colour and saturation to achieve a particular look of the film in this case it was the creation of the black and white effect which was pivotal to the creation of our film. Through sound production for the film I have learnt a lot about sound creating software such as Audacity  and also techniques such as foley which we used to create footsteps and dubbing dialogue and capture ambient noise in order to make a more authentic film.

Hardware

The process of constructing our film also taught me a lot about hardware and in particular how the use of a tripod can affect the quality of film. It also taught me how valuable technologies are to the film making process as through post production a lot of aspects can be improved such as the steadying of shots and smoothing them out to make an over all higher quality product. The process of constructing this product also taught me how impromptu shots can be filmed on mobile phones and through the use of steadying accesories fit these phones a high quality image on par with some cameras can be produced. This development process also taught me how every day objects can become valuable through foley work and how mobile phones can be used as microphones within certain situations using software such as voice memos.

Conclusion

Overall throughout the development if my media product I have learnt how integral technologies are in providing higher quality productions. I have also learnt how they can make the development process a lot easier and can make productions more efficient through software such as iCloud which allows for easily transferrable files between multiple people . However perhaps the most important thing i learnt about technologies through the development of my product was the large amount of post production editing which we were able to accomplish through software such as final cut pro.
