  • Established in 1997 by the Nordic Council of Ministers
  • Providing knowledge that enhances Nordic cooperation and strengthens the Nordic countries in a global context 
  • Policy-relevant and evidence-based knowledge concerning territorial development

  • 35 researchers from 14 countries
  • Annual turnover of approximately 5 million Euro
  • Annual grant from NCM covers 40% of our budget
  • Combination of international, national, regional and local commissions

Our analytical focus 

  • how people function in terms of their everyday life, especially concerning access to amenities
  • promoting a multi-scalar analysis
  • providing information that can support policy and planning
  • linking accessibility to socio-economics and demographics
