What do you feel

you have learnt in the progression from your preliminary task to the

full product?

The preliminary tasks was one of my strongest especially my front cover and contents page, as I was able to show my wider knowledge of Photoshop, therefore I believe my aesthetic quality was the best of my abilities, however my double page spread is not at the best due to the time frame given. Nevertheless, I feel I have learnt a lot about mainstream magazines and using aspects of them to create a new and creative magazine which is dominating the marketplace. Creating a magazine from scratch required me to produce a target audience and then look into them a lot more deeper, and their demographics and psycho-graphic, all adding up to create and ideal person for my magazine. Also focusing on one Genre, especially one which is Indie Rock which is alternative to rock was risky, however I wanted to create something new and challenge the conventions of a real magazine, by making an independent genre a mainstream magazine.

The preliminary task also required me to change my language, in the sense where i have to address my target audience in a way they understand, so in the process of that, I learnt a lot about my 'hipster' demographic, their hobbies and how to address them. My skills in using different types of cameras has improved, also i have an interest in photography, mostly of nature however to combine that with the genre and photo shoots with models was a new experience, also dressing the models, doing the makeup and hair, gave me an idea of the real life magazine industry and the process they must undergo to create a magazine. While doing this evaluation, I used many different presentations that I had never used before or heard of, making it come in handy for the future.  Also i was able to look at different social groups and the way they're represented in mainstream magazines, this allowed me to give the world an alternative, which is more positive especially towards women.

Also looking beyond just making a magazine, I also had an interest in editing photographs I have taken, and to use a new software which was bought called CyberLink PhotoDirector 4 allowed me to learn something new, and using different editing techniques other than the obvious Photoshop ones, by using the photo editor I was able to get professional looking images, and edited them to remove blemishes and imperfections, by changing the depth of field, and using the colour spectrum to make the colour stand out etc. I had to look at the different angles of how the images were taken and the codes behind them, symbolic codes, and how my target audience may perceive the image.

final

Overall the progress from my preliminary task to my final product was immense, by using the preliminary magazine, I was able to address issues  preceding to constructing my final magazine which allowed the progressions of my magazine.
