What is diversity and why does it matter?

Broadly released a rich and representative collection of all-new stock photography entitled: "The Gender Spectrum Collection: Stock Photos Beyond the Binary" which will be available free for all media outlets. 

The collection is made up of nearly 200 new images of trans and non-binary individuals intended to portray the under-represented community without clichés (like putting on makeup or surrounded with pride or trans flags or gender-neutral bathroom signs) or defined only by their gender identities.
These are original photos depicting trans and non-binary people with careers, relationships, talents, passions, and home lives.

the complexities of the existing diversity
in our society in terms of

1. gender

2. sexual orientation

3. ethnic cultures and subcultures

4. physical and mental impairments

Maak een fotoreportage over
één specifieke persoon of organisatie die het verschil maakt binnen jouw thema.

We zijn niet op zoek naar de grote helden,
maar de stille krachten achter de schermen.

Create a photo report about
one specific person or organisation making a difference within your theme.

We are not looking for the big heroes,
but the silent forces behind the scenes.

1. Start met een uitgebreide brainstorm (NU!).
2. Plan A versus Plan B (backup idee)
3. Bereid je voor > Verhaal, locatie, compositie, personages, … alles ligt bij voorkeur vast voor je ook maar één foto maakt. Improviseren mag, maar dat betekent niet dat je onvoorbereid je reportage maakt.
4. Bij het maken van je beeldverhaal zijn “wie, wat, waar, wanneer en waarom” zoals altijd zeer belangrijk. Zorg ervoor dat de lezer antwoord kan geven op deze vragen.
5. Wat is de structuur
   > begin-midden-slot OF format (vb. 3x3 portret) ?
    
6. Tip: zoek het niet te ver weg!
   Maar, denk wel verder dan het cliché.

1. Start with a thorough brainstorm (NOW!).
2. Plan A versus Plan B (backup idea)
3. Prepare > Story, location, composition, characters, ... It's best to plan everything before taking photos. Improvisation is allowed, but don't be unprepared.
4. When creating your visual story, "who, what, where, when and why" are always very important.
   Make sure the reader can answer these questions.
5. What is the structure >
   beginning-middle-end OR format (e.g. 3x3 portraits) ?
    
6. Tip: don't look too far away!
   But, do think beyond the cliché.

Werk je reportage uit in foto’s en tekst.
Zorg dat er genoeg afwisseling in je beelden zit
(details, (close)portret, groepsportret, context, …)
en let op je gulden snede.

Werk met min. 8 en max. 12 (eigen) foto’s.
Kies je (inhoudelijk) sterkste beeld als introbeeld en schrijf een kop, korte intro en fotobijschriften 
bij de fotoreportage.

Develop your reportage in photos and text.
Make sure there is enough variety in your images
(details, (close) portrait, group picture, context, ...)
and pay attention to the rule of thirds/golden ratio.

Work with min. 8 and max. 12 photos.
Choose your (content-wise) strongest image as
featured image and write a headline, short intro and photo captions to go along with your pictures.
