(MY FINAL ANCILLARY PRODUCTS)

TARGET AUDIENCE FEEDBACK USING 'iMESSAGE'...

whAT I LEARNT FROM THIS...

POSITIVE FEEDBACK

The feedback received on my ancillary products was generally very positive; the synergy product (red lipstick) was often pointed out as keeping the products consistent and also being a generally attractive feature and my target audience personally like it. The brightness of the advertisement was said to have improved the overall appearance of it which is great as I did increase the brightness and change the colours using colour correction, it is good to know this was successful and made it less dull. The way in which the guitar creates a natural barrier on the advertisement was complimented by saying it makes it look neat and organized, I initially had text on either sides of the guitar so I am relieved I changed that and got this positive feedback. My use of rule of thirds on the digipak was said to be unique and works well, this helped me be confident that this feature will attract attention and also makes the track list clear and easy to read. My choice of photographs was apparently good as I had the most eye grabbing close up with eye contact on the front panel, and the photo that shows more of Eli/Eva’s costume on the inside, and more of the nature in the background. The photo on the advertisement showed her costume too and had the synergy prop (guitar). I am glad the photos received such positive feedback because it was hard choosing as we took up to 500!

IMPROVEMENTS

I asked if there are any possible improvements that I could have made, and my feedback shows that enlarging the album cover on the advertisement was suggested twice. I did in fact enlarge it from my draft to my final product but I feel now I could have increased the size even more, as this is the main point in the advertisement and this is what should be noticed. Also, adding the artists website to the digipak was suggested, the reason I didn’t do this is because I wanted to keep it quite simplistic as that was the look I was going for.  I chose to add the website to the advertisement instead and focus the digipak on the artist and her music itself. Similarly, adding a pattern or perhaps using a brush on Photoshop to customize the actual CD was suggested, but I purposely kept it plain and transparent so the artist’s photo next to the CD was the main focus. However, seeing as my target audience is 16-23 year old females, perhaps a nice pattern would have been more appealing to them.

MY MUSIC VIDEO FEEDBACK...

Here is a link to the feedback:

•We  received really positive and encouraging feedback when we interviewed people outside the cinema after the screening. All the people are within our target audience age of 16-23 which is even more useful, especially the feedback from the females as they are our core target audience. The fact it was indie-pop was noticed and our video was said to have really suited this genre which is great as it shows we successfully followed the conventions. Having a member of our core audience say the video personally appealed to her helped us feel confident that we connected to the right audience, and the feedback from other people showed we also attracted a wider audience. We did this by using a unique filter inspired by 'Florence and the Machine' and including a range of shots inspired by Nicole Sherzinger.  The filter was pointed out by a male who we interviewed which means he wasn't a part of our core target audience, the fact he said he particularly liked the filter is great as it shows we have attracted a wider audience by doing this. Also, another male said he feels anyone interested in this kind of indie-pop genre would be interested in this video and this means that our viewers do not completely consist of young females.

music video feedback...

One of the most positive comments was that the video reminded an audience member of Taylor Swift, considering she was our biggest inspiration this shows we successfully used ideas from her and also made them unique and suited to Eva Ellis.
•There wasn't really any negative comments, the fact that it was simple and basic was picked up on quite a lot, I think this is really positive as we were aiming for that style throughout all our products. However, the simplicity may be misinterpreted as dullness or perhaps just lack of detail. For this reason, I would add a wider range of shots, just incase the video becomes repetitive or boring.
