Harmonies and octave
Harmony
From the Latin harmonia meaning joining, concord, and from the Greek harmos meaning joint.
The combination of three or more sounds in a manner that produces a musically consistent, agreeable, pleasing whole.
Harmony, associations: Accompaniment, chords, triads, seventh chords, chorale style
Octaves
Many musical scales in the West use eight notes. The distance between the first and eighth note is called an octave. This octave distance can be broken down into 12 semitones (on a guitar, each fret is one semitone.) ... Also: playing any note an octave higher will double it's frequency vibration rate.

1) Continue with "How Great Thou Art" work
Look at "How Great Thou Art" and try the following:
- Play through the chords normally with 8th notes and accents.
- Play using the 16ths/8ths pattern we did in class (down down/up)
- Play the song using only full chords
2) Play scale exercises as a warm-up or "workout" - try starting at a number other than "1" and alternating (3-1 3-2 3-4 3-5, etc.)
This is a "G major scale" because the root note (also called the "tonic") is a G.
Try playing through this pattern, starting with the first #1 note on the low E string.
