Upcoming assignments in this course include:
By the end of the year you will have gathered and cited extensive lists of peer-reviewed references. Scholars in sociology and other disciplines often contend that citation management software is an essential tool when collecting references, resulting in significant time savings during the preparation and final production of the research report.
In the Sociology Honours (SOCI 409) course this semester, students will complete an independent research project consisting of a critical literature review of an area of sociological study...
Students will be expected to thoroughly familiarise themselves with the literature in their chosen area while developing a systematic method for doing so.... gaining a solid command of key findings, developing an original argument about the state of knowledge, understanding key debates in the field.
Students will be asked to model their papers on those found in Sociology Compass, an international journal publishing surveys of current research on specific topic areas in the discipline.
