Techcombank shares set a trading record since going public

On October 14, a total of 75 million shares of Techcombank (TCB) changed hands with a total value of 1,704 billion dong. This is the record liquidity level of TCB since being listed on HoSE.


The domestic stock market in October 14 session exploded when the VN-Index successfully conquered 940 points after rising 1.1%. The liquidity on HoSE surged to 14,399 billion dong, 121% higher than yesterday.

 

Trading value on the market soared on the day TCB shares (Techcombank) hit a liquidity record since being listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HoSE) in June 2018. TCB today rose 7% to the ceiling price of 22,850 dong / share.

In today's session, a total of 75 million TCB shares were traded with a total value of 1,704 billion dong. In which, the matched volume was 48.6 million units. The remaining 26.4 million shares were traded by put-through method.

According to Dstock data, TCB's matched liquidity today is 7.7 times higher than the average number of the last 20 trading sessions.

Previously, the trading volume of TCB shares started to increase sharply from October 7 session. In the last 5 trading sessions, the liquidity of TCB always reached 12-14 million units matched per session. Meanwhile, the average number from the beginning of the year to before the 7/10 session was less than 2.5 million units / session.

TCB surged with historic high volume after the information that Techcombank approved the plan to issue shares to employees (ESOP program). After the issuance of ESOP shares, Techcombank's charter capital will increase by 48 billion to 35,049 billion VND.

 

Techcombank plans to issue 4.8 million shares to employees at the price of 10,000 dong / share. This number of shares is not restricted to transfer. The issuance will be implemented in 2020 after approval by the State Securities Commission.

The last time Techcombank issued ESOP shares was in October 2019. At that time, this bank issued additional 3.5 million shares to employees. During the 2-month period from the time this bank announced its plan to issue ESOP shares (August 2019) to its completion, TCB's market price also increased sharply by 16% from 21,000 VND to 24,450 VND / share .

Techcombank's pre-tax profit after the first 6 months of the year reached VND 6,738 billion, ranking third in the entire banking system, behind only Vietcombank and Vietinbank. Techcombank has not yet released its third quarter financial statements.
