What students want
This one came up over and over again.
"I would've studied in javascript and prepared myself more."
"Experience with javascript"
"Months of JavaScript review"
"I wish I spent more time on JS fundamentals and syntax, so that once the cohort started, we could hit the ground running"
We agree completely. Mastering the JS fundamentals will be very important to your success in the later modules.
We made changes to the curriculum to focus more on JS these first few weeks as a result.
If you are struggling with any of the fundamental JS concepts we present, ask for help early and practice often!
JS fundamentals are the hardest topic to "circle back" to. We are here to support you 100%, so let us know if you want a refresher on anything presented.
"Spend more time really understanding the core concepts instead of glancing at them."
Some commentary on this point:
Again, this rings true to the instructors. In 6 months you get a broad survey of web development.
Building depth on a few of the topics that interest you most is a great idea. Pick a few things during the class and decide to become an expert in them.
"Do the prework, more than once if you have too. Connect with other students early on and always do the assignments and reach out to the instructors, the've never let me down and I've got everything that I asked for."
"Study hard, just because you attend a coding school doesn't mean you can breeze through it and expect a job. Work hard, study hard, and network hard."
No commentary on this one -- if you work harder you'll get more out of this program.
Lets have an adventure.
