About me

➣ 22 y/o SWE, working on Ubuntu FT.
➣ Did GSoC twice (w/ Debian). I mentor GSoC

     and Outreachy now.

➣ Debian core-dev for about 3½ years.
➣ Landed a job in Canonical (Ubuntu).

➣ Became an Ubuntu core-dev.

What is Debian?

Debian is a free operating system (OS) for your computer. An operating system is the set of basic programs and utilities that make your computer run.

Debian provides more than a pure OS: it comes with over 65000 packages, precompiled software bundled up in a nice format for easy installation on your machine.

What does Debian look like?

There are many desktop environments and window managers.

How is it built?

There are lots of moving parts.

The main essential bit (and the heart of an OS) is the Linux kernel.

How thousands of people work together on the project? 

What's Ubuntu? Why was it made? 

Because there's one thing about Debian - which is good and bad, both. (:
