What is a circuit?

A closed loop that allows electrons to flow from
a power source, through components, and back to the
power source.
This closed loop of electrons allows the
electrical current to continue to flow.
If the loop is open, no electrons can flow.

- passive components with a specific, never-changing, electrical resistance
- passive = consumes power (cannot generate power)
- resistance = limits the flow of electrons through a circuit

- Ohm's Law: the current through a conductor between two points, is directly proportional to the voltage across the two points

GPIO (General Purpose Input Output)
REMEMBER: Randomly plugging wires into your GPIO will kill your Pi!
These pins are a physical interface between the RPi and the outside world.
Think of the pins as switches that you can turn
on or off (input),
or that the RPi can turn on or off (output).
