    Wilhelm Meya is an American social entrepreneur. He is known as a leader in the nonprofit sector, and his work preserving endangered indigenous languages has an international following. Mr. Meya is the Founder & CEO of The Language Conservancy (TLC), and he has established an extensive network of organizations which support endangered languages.

    While studying in a Ph.D. program at Indiana University, Wil Meya collaborated with linguist, Jan Ulrich, to launch a series of projects in the Dakotas—eventually establishing Lakota Language Consortium (LLC), one of the first large-scale Native American Language projects in the United States.     Wilhelm K. Meya has received many acknowledgements and awards for societal and scientific achievement for his work in language preservation. In 2005, he established The Language Conservancy (TLC) and currently serves as the non-profit’s CEO. Wil is a graduate of Indiana University with his Master of Science in Anthropology. He received an M.A. from the University of Arizona as well. While in a Ph.D. program in 2002, he partnered with linguist, Jan Ulrich, and eventually established the Lakota Language Consortium.
