Q1. How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?
From the begging of my planing I have decided to choose mystery detective as my Main genre. I have researched the code & convention of mystery detective genre. The typical
narrative structure, firstly we need to have a equilibrium to start the story. Secondly, the problem occur (for example characters get in trouble). Then detective goes to the scene to collect some evident that the circumstances together. Finally create a new equilibrium ( these new equilibrium usually telling the audience that the file closed or happy ending).
After I created my opening sequence I changed my mind to change my genre as crime & fantasy comedy. I have research some opening sequences in this website www.artofthetitle.com I have searched 2 opening sequence which are the Sin city and
Snatch, both of the genre are mainly focus on crime and also they have points out the similarities of the aesthetic code (e.g. they have used black in colour in their text of star appeals) .Black colour is a symbolic of the evil or crime that connote the audience that the people are either a gangster or thieves. More over it shows the iconography of the mise-en-scene (e.g. props). From both of the opening sequences they both used guns as their props.

I found both of the opening sequences are very useful because these give me an idea to organise my own opening sequence of titling and opening credit because one of my genre is focus on crime too thats why it may helps me to find a clue do my own opening sequences. I have produced my own background music by using Garage Band.I have decided to use GarageBand to produce my own soundtrack, because it is easy to produce digital music. Also I didn't record my own music by using my instrument so GarageBand is a good software to create a digital music without recording any music live.
I would like to create soft rock soundtrack for my opening sequence. I got inspiration from an animated song which called Skillet Rise it is a opening song of a famous Japanese Animation - Tokyo Ghoul. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vONMFWZm0I
Cinematography is a art or technique to capture photography. Different kinds of shots have different meanings to send to the audience. In my opening sequence I have chosen 5 different types of shots which are high angle shot, low angle shot, mid shot, extreme long shot and long shot.Extreme close up - The shot is so tight that only can see a detail of a object.
Eye level is use to draw audience attraction. High angle is designed make the audience side with the character in the shot. Extreme long shot is used in a great distance, in which people appear as small dot in the landscape. Mid shot is uses to invite the audience to see what are they doing as well as how they are feel. Low angle Shot could signify the power. Long shot is used to show location or relationship between characters.

I have recorded 3 or times for each shots which gives me more than chose to find the best version of it shots to put in the opening sequence. Most of my lighting setting I used dim light and shadow because it create a exciting atmosphere .Due to the fact both of my characters that acted in my opening sequence were special armed police so they could wear casually in the open sequence. I have used cross dissolve, speed up/ slow motion, lightning , time remaping, equalize, fast colour corrector and volume. Most of my editing settings are mainly used to correct the colour to dim colour/ light and the speed up and slow motion used to draw audience attention more over the lightning is use to connote the audiences that the special armed police can used special power. Finally, the volume effect is use to help the audience can able to hear clearly during the conversation and the voice over.I have also used flash back in my opening sequence ( flash back is a effect to indicate the audience that what is happening before the scene or story. I have tried to challenge the genre by produce two versions of the opening sequence. After I uploaded my first version of my opening sequence , I noticed that the dialogue in the clip is not clear enough because the back ground music is too loud it covered the dialogue during the conversation in the the opening sequence .Also, I realized that I need to create a background music not just download someone’s song. More over, from the first version the color of the effect and the lighting effect is not as good as I expect so I redo the part I did wrong again. I have increase the volume of the sound by adding volume effect twice in each shot that contain voice over, dialogue and back ground music because from the first version we can hear the sound track is covered over the voice of the dialogue and voice over. More over I have changes all the colour correction effects almost the same as each shots which create a a continuity editing to help the audience to follow the story/ opening sequence. An additionally, I have set most of my lighting setting as dim light and shadow because it create a exciting atmosphere .
Q1. How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?
I have broken down my opening sequence into 9 key moment which are Cassey Productions present, a film by Cassandra Li,Vesta Straga, base on novel by Cassandra Li, James May as Fox, Mathew Broderick as Samuel, Produced by Cassey productions, A Rouge Cop Specialist A Hero.I have represented the character in my film by using voice over and flash back to represent / connote the personality of each characters. Stereotype is a one-sided, exaggerated and prejudicial view of a social group or set individuals. Stereotype can be dangerous because they appear to provide a justification for racist or other discriminatory behaviour.I haven't using any stereotype because they appear to provide a justification for racist or other discriminatory behaviour. I target the audience by adding a suspense at the beginning of the opening sequence so the audience may want to find out whats happening before the scene.More over I have export my opening sequence in social website which is youtube.I have a predictable my audiences are mainly teenage because teenagers usually visit the youtube almost everyday so that I'm mainly target teenagers as my audience. Due to the fact that my opening sequence is a low budget amateur production so I wouldn't create any star appeal. I have set most of my lighting setting as dim light and shadow because it create a exciting atmosphere and also dim colour is an aesthetic code which signified evil or crime.Due to the fact both of my characters that acted in my opening sequence were special armed police so they could wear casually in the open sequence and don't to put any make up on the actors faces
