Q1

From these results, it is evident that the majority of TV listings magazine readers are female, and this was expected as for soap operas, the target audience is aimed mainly towards females.

q2

From the twitter and Facebook survey links, a large number of the people who took the survey were under 18, but we know this is due to the dominance over the internet that the younger generation have, and although this is useful to some extent, we will still be aiming to please a mass audience and cater for under 18-75+ needs when creating the TV listings magazine.

Q3

It came as a surprise that a reasonable number of people read TV listings magazines weekly, but as expected the two biggest chunks were the ‘occasionally’ and ‘never’.

Q4

The fourth question helped us to understand what people go to TV listings magazines for, and we found that the most common answer was “to be up to date when your favourite shows are on” whilst a number of people went for the option “I don’t read them.”

Q5

The 5th question helps us to determine what would/does attract people to a listings magazine, and the highest answer from the survey takers was “the main image” with the same number of people voting for “the easy to read layout”, “colours used” “variety of TV programmes” and “exclusive information only found in this magazine”. We will ensure we focus on these areas.

q6

Following this, a large majority voted for a bright eye catching colour scheme, whilst a small minority voted for a basic colour scheme. We will look more into this before we create the magazine, but from the results we received, it is likely that we will opt for at least one bright colour which will attract an audience.

q7

The next question does not really apply to the double page spread of the magazine, but if we were creating a full magazine then we would need to ensure we feature the gripping storyline of the double page spread on the front of the magazine. In some ways, this is useful as we are aware of what will attract the audience to the magazine.

q8

The general price which a reader would pay for a TV listings magazine is “£1-£1.30″ which we believe to be reasonable too, as we do not believe the TV listings magazine should be charged up to £1.80, this will turn away potential readers.
