The Twitter streaming API offers a scalable and effective way to continuously monitor tweets for relevant content.
Each user provides their Twitter credentials and is then able to specify a list of terms and users to track. This activity is not displayed on their Twitter profile.
The system continuously stores tweets as they arrive from Twitter. Users are then able to search all the tweets, with filters available to narrow the search to their own tweets.
