OLD ROUTER TO EXPAND THE NETWORK

Old router

In all the previous cases we had to make a small investment to improve our network coverage. Observations & solutions for cable companies are useful to all cable providers. But we may have at hand some old router, which we can use and configure as a neutral router, so that it serves as a wireless access point or as a wired signal repeater, although in this case I would prefer to invest in a switch that are not very costly

Beyond the configuration that we have to perform, which is more or less simple, we must take into account that being an old router in many cases uses standard WiFi connection 802.11g, to a maximum of 54 Mpbs, what today in day it may be insufficient. It will depend a lot on the quality of the router that we have on hand to use to get more or less game.

OPTIMIZATION OF OUR ROUTER

It is something that we have already commented at length, tricks such as choosing the best possible location, transmitting through the channel that is less saturated in our area or adding an antenna that improves our connection are just some of the possibilities. In this sense, a good study can avoid us having to add more network elements to improve the connection.

Everything depends on the type of house we have, the materials with which it is built, the thickness of the walls, since in many cases all this conditions the WiFi coverage, the ease to carry connections through the network cable or PLC connections of the electrical network. The truth is that it is a question that we have to study more and more.
