7 POINT PLAN

  1. Create a badge constellation
  2. Map meaning to badges and system 
  3. Identify a global assessment strategy
  4. Determine system relationships & how learners progress
  5. Design benefits, opportunities and rewards into the system
  6. Address technology considerations
  7. Utilize appropriate graphic design

To develop an integrated badge system we will:

          -summative achievement

          -progress or milestones

          -membership activity/involvement

1. Create a badge constellation

MAP MEANING

Map articulates each badge:

          -backward design

          -Title, description, criteria, expiration

            (if applicable, and evidence

2. Define each Badge and relation to System

ASSESSMENT

Define when competency has been earned:

              -authentic artifact

              -test, quiz or formal assessment

              -peer review of work

              -verified participation (event or program)

              -membership or interest group

              -presenter, facilitator or leader

3. Identify a global assessment strategy

LEARNER PROGRESS

-Consider milestones or other steps

-Formative or Summative steps

-Make progression easy to understand

4. Determine system relationship & learner progression

 -Will it unlock added benefits?

          -Create, Distribute, Track

          -Open Badge Platform

       -Backpack or Curate  

6. Address Technology Considerations

Essentials in a Badge Platform:

          -Define badge, metadata, titles, description, etc.

          -Manage organization issuing badges

       -Set badge earning criteria or rules for earners

       -Host assertion and badge evidence

          -Track and analyze badge-earning and sharing data

          -Confirm identity enable secure badge acceptance

 

6. Address Technology Considerations

GRAPHIC DESIGN

Badges should include:

          -indicate balance of skill/competency

          -branding from HEeD Association

          -color and art theme or branding

          -title of badge and years
