Films with Similar Target Audiences

The Resident was a film released in 2011 which looks at a similar stalking situation to what we have decied to feature in our own opening sequence. The age rating certficate of this film was given a 15 which was becasue of the sex and nudity scences.  Ill Manors was also a film that was produced by Revolver who has a similar target audience to what we have - teenagers. It also features teenagers which gives them a direct link to them wanting to watch it. This was given an age rating of 18 due to the extreme drug use and sex and nudity scenes.

Target Audience; Intrests

When looking at what our target audience would like to do on the weekend, typical hobbies and intrests this is what we came up with;

  • Often go to the cinema
  • Currently studying their A-Levels
  • Volitile realtionship with their parents (typical teenager moodswings)
  • Big users of social networking
  • Enjoying watching Thriller themed filmed
  • Like playing game consoles
  • Large intrest in technology

Why would our opening sequence be the type of film our target audience would enjoy?

  • Film contains aspects of social media which is what is known as the norm now today in society's culture.

  • We have changed the norm by not typically having the boy stalk the girl, we changed it so the girl was stalking the boy to engage the audience more and give the film a plot twist.

  • Although we didn't include it in our final opening sequence, one of our main themes when first planning our opening sequence was violence. We initially thought that this would be attractive to our target audience as teenage boys are engaged by violence. We decided when editing it all together the violence aspect of it didn't work as well; it made the sequence look as if it was a trailer. Not what we were going for.

Evaluation

When looking at our target audience as a whole I think we have attracted both males and females in different ways. We have attracted teenage boys by using violence and obsessiveness as well as an aspect of social media to ensure they are fully engaged. To attract the females we made a female character the main character. We also decided that rating our film at 15 was the most suited to our film as it is targeted at teenagers.
