Mathieu Larivière, CIM, F. Pl., FCSI®

Mathieu Larivière has been providing investment and financial advice since 2001. Now a Portfolio Manager with Groupe Larivière of BMO Nesbitt Burns, Mathieu leads a team focused on serving the complex needs of successful families, business owners, and doctors.

Through a family-office approach, Mathieu and his team serve as stewards of capital, emphasizing risk management tactics and the integration of specialized insight from a network of internal and external subject matter experts.

Over the years, he has attained some of the highest credentials in the industry, including the designation Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI®) and appointment to the BMO Nesbitt Burns National Advisory Council (from 2016 to 2019). He has also occupied the role of Assistant Branch Manager for BMO Nesbitt Burns’ McGill Branch for two years (from 2018 to 2020). He holds a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Ottawa and a Certificate in Financial Planning from the University of Québec in Montréal. He also holds the Certified Investment Manager (CIM) designation.

Pierre-Luc Houle, BBA, CIM, FCSI®

With Pierre-Luc's experience in the financial service industry going back to 2009, Pierre-Luc Houle is an Investment Advisor with Groupe Larivière. His focus is to deliver personalized and integrated financial advice, so that for each client, as little as possible is left up to chance.

Associate Portfolio Manager

In addition to Pierre-Luc’s industry experience, he also brings an extensive educational background to his current role. A graduate of the University of Laval, he also holds the Certified Investment Manager (CIM®) designation and has been named a Fellow of the Canadian Services Institute (FCSI®), one of the most prestigious titles available to Canadian wealth advisors. He is currently in the process of completing his IQPF financial planning designation.

Pierre-Luc’s focus on disciplined, holistic advice is integral to the team’s commitment to wealth stewardship for each client.

David Heng joined BMO in 2016 and has been providing financial advice at both the retail and Private Banking levels. Throughout his career, he has developed a great passion for solving and optimizing complex wealth management challenges for his clients. Now as an Investment Advisor with Groupe Larivière at BMO Nesbitt Burns, he can fully exercise this passion by dedicating his investment and planning expertise to the needs of business owners, professionals and their families.

Vanessa Frenna, BComm

Meet our team

Vanessa’s industry experience is complemented by her educational background. Vanessa graduated from Concordia University with a bachelor’s degree in finance. She has also acquired several certificates from the Canadian Securities Institute; Canadian Securities Course (CSC), Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH) and Wealth Management Essentials (WME). She is currently pursuing her IQPF financial planning designation and intends on expanding her knowledge and education further in the next few years. 

Vanessa has worked for BMO Nesbitt Burns since 2015. Her focus is to understand her clients’ financial, retirement and overall lifestyle goals and work towards those goals by implementing investment strategies specific to her clients’ unique situations. Vanessa’s priority is that her clients feel understood, knowledgeable, comfortable and in control of their wealth path.

Charlotte (Pu) Zhang has worked in the financial industry since 2018. Her attention to detail and extensive customer service allows for delivery of the utmost care for our clients.

Administration Associate

She responds to the administrative questions and needs of our clients. She is responsible for the day-to-day administration of our clients' accounts, any account updates, transferring securities and cash from other financial institutions, and all aspects of client service. Her goal is to make a contributive difference on delivering financial service to clients in need.

Stéphanie Rene-Filion has worked in the financial industry since 2014. Thanks to her knowledge and ability to analyze every possible solutions available, she is able to propose relevant and effective solutions.

Danny Guarnieri, CPA, CA, LL.M. Fisc., F.Pl.

Danny provides customized wealth advisory services to BMO’s high net worth clients. Danny obtains an understanding of each client’s needs, goals and financial situation in order to develop a comprehensive plan that simplifies complex subject matters such as: financial, tax, estate, and business succession planning. Furthermore, Danny leverages his extensive experience in private practice in order to provide high-quality plans and inform clients of the risks and opportunities inherent in such plans.

Wealth and tax planner

Danny joined BMO Wealth Management in 2017. In 2006, Danny began his career at Deloitte, an international public accounting firm, where he gained valuable experience in auditing large private and public corporations. After completing his master’s in Taxation in 2013, he joined Deloitte’s tax practice where he specialized in tax planning and compliance for public and private corporations. In 2015, Danny joined Richter LLP’s tax practice where he further specialized in tax planning and reorganizations for private corporations and business owners.

Sylvie Roy

Sylvie has been with BMO Bank of Montreal for more than 20 years, spending much of that time working in the branch network as Financial Services Manager and Branch Manager.

Preferred Partner, Personal Banking Services

In March 2015, Sylvie joined the BMO Private Banking team and, since January of 2016, has been dedicated to providing private banking services exclusively to clients of BMO Nesbitt Burns.

Sylvie's vast banking experience and training in financial planning allows her to understand her clients' complex needs and respond with personalized strategies. Known for her level of commitment, she has earned her clients' trust over the years. According to Sylvie, the cornerstones of exemplary service are qualities that are, for the most part, intangible such as sincerity, solid relationships and respect.

Marc-Antoine is a Professional Accountant (CPA) having spent the first years of his career in a large accounting firm. Since arriving at BMO Bank of Montreal in 2019, he has worked in a Large Corporate Banking Service.
