Introduction to AWS Cloud

What is Cloud Computing?

Learning Outcome

5

Relate cloud computing and AWS with real-life examples

4

Understand what AWS Cloud is

3

Understand different types of cloud computing

2

Know why cloud computing is needed

1

Understand what cloud computing is

Earlier, we learned

Cloud removes the need to buy and manage physical machines

Understanding the concept

Think about using Google Drive

You don’t buy a hard disk

You don’t manage storage

You just upload and access files online

Cloud computing works the same way for servers, storage, and applications

You use servers and storage online without owning or managing them

Now that we understand the idea,

let’s learn what cloud computing actually means and how AWS provides it

What is Cloud Computing...?

Cloud computing is the delivery of computing services like storage, servers, databases, networking, and software over the internet

That allows users to

Access resources on demand without physical infrastructure

Scale services up or down based on need

Pay only for what they use, reducing costs

These resources include

Users can access these resources on demand, from anywhere

Why Cloud Computing is Used

Cloud computing is needed because:

  • Physical servers are costly

  • Hardware maintenance is difficult

  • Scaling systems takes time

  • Faster setup
  • Lower cost

  • Easy scalability

Cloud computing provides:

Key Features of Cloud Computing

On-Demand Access – Use resources when needed

Pay-as-you-go – Pay only for what you use

Scalability – Increase or decrease resources easily

Accessibility – Access from anywhere

Types of Cloud Computing

  • Resources shared among many users
  • Managed by cloud provider

Example:
Hosting websites on AWS.

  • Cloud used by one organization
  • More control and security

  • Combination of public and private cloud

Public Cloud

Example:
Company’s internal cloud system.

Private Cloud

Hybrid Cloud

Example:
Sensitive data in private cloud, apps in public cloud

Community Cloud

A Community Cloud is a cloud environment that is shared by multiple organizations  that have similar requirements

These organizations may share

Security requirements

Compliance rules

Policies or regulations

Instead of each organization creating its own cloud,
they share the same cloud infrastructure

Cloud Service Models

 1. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)

Provides virtual machines, storage, and networking

2. Platform as a Service (PaaS)

Provides development environments without worrying about infrastructure

3. Software as a Service (SaaS)

Provides fully managed applications over the internet

Example: AWS EC2, Google Compute Engine

Example: Google App Engine, AWS Elastic Beanstalk

Example: Google Drive, Microsoft Office 365

What is AWS Cloud...?

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a cloud platform that provides on-demand computing services over the internet

AWS manages the hardware, data centers, and infrastructure, while users focus only on using the services

AWS allows users to

Run virtual servers

Store data securely

Build and deploy applications

Scale systems automatically

Why AWS Cloud is Popular

Example:
Companies host websites, applications, and databases on AWS Cloud

It offers a large number of cloud services

It is reliable and scalable

It follows strong security standards

It is used by startups and large companie

Cloud computing provides several advantages

Summary

5

AWS helps build and run applications easily

4

AWS is a popular cloud service provider

3

Cloud is scalable and cost-effective

2

It removes the need for physical servers

1

Cloud computing provides IT resources over the internet
