Unit 3 Social Media Policies

What is a social media policy?
Why do businesses need to have one?
Social Media Policies
A social media policy is there to protect employees and companies from any misconducts.
A policy should define how an employee can represent themselves and their employers brand online.
This defines a brand identity that is enforced across different social media allowing visitors to the social media of that company to get the same consistent experience throughout.
Social Media Policies
A social media policy is there to protect employees and companies from any misconducts.
The policy should minimise the legal action taken up against your business.
It should also ensure the confidentiality of information.
The policy should protect your company from any security risks, e.g., phishing, hacking and fraud.
Activity
In your notebooks (under Unit 3, Learning Aim B & C), you need to create a social media policy for your business that you can use later, in your coursework.
Your policy should include:
- The company philosophy, e.g., "Creating a culture of inclusiveness and belonging."
- The promotion of honesty and respect in posted content
- The ways you can ensure confidentiality of information
- Some methods of dealing with security issues, e.g., Changing the social media passwords regularly.
- How employees can separate company and personal content, e.g., Not posting their own personal opinions.
- Any legal and ethical considerations employees need to take into account when posting content.
