We are gonna revolutionize the way you look order food at hotels.
Restaurant is one of the more capital-intensive businesses.
This makes it essential for them to run an efficient operation. While acquiring new customers is important, the success of the restaurant business depends on repeat customers. The initial costs require each acquired customer to have a high lifetime value.
the aim of the business is to delight the customer, and engage them in ways that will keep them wanting to come back – and talk about the restaurant to their social networks.
Thanks to applications like Zomato and Instagram, mobile technology has already become a part of the restaurant business. Successful entrepreneurs have taken the cue from the customers, and become one of the early adopters of Augmented Reality. It began with food and beverage companies like Coca-Cola and Treasury Wine Estates successfully running AR campaigns. The Treasury Wine app, for example, allowed the customers to scan their labels to watch (and listen to) the story behind the person pictured on it.
This technology is now finding its way into the restaurant itself.
Many a restaurant have been using tablets to take customer orders, and have been showing them a menu on the device – rather than use a physical menu. This allows the restaurant to worry less about the so-called menu costs, and price their dishes dynamically.
Now the time is ripe to use these devices to engage the customer through augmented reality. Instead of picking dishes from a text-based menu with limited pictures, the customers will be able to visualize their meals before they order the dishes.
During the peak of Pokémon Go craze in 2016, a point of sale service platform Revel Systems found that their restaurants that were located near Pokestops saw the weekly footfall rise by as much as 82% - clearly, successful AR deployments can pull customer to the table.
The unique experience by itself would attract new customers.
