mechanical workshop
Introduction
-
Our names are Aditya Garg and Labanya Mukhopadhyay
-
We will be your FTC leads this year
-
Throughout the years we will remain dedicated to helping you guys excel and hone your skills as thinkers, problem solvers, and engineers
- Our goal for FTC is to ensure that you guys, when introduced into FRC, will have the skills and knowledge to carry on this teams legacy and produce (hopefully) functioning and great robots
goals of this workshop
-
The goal for this workshop today is to teach you a basic drive train and a basic chassis
-
Brief discussions on subsystems
-
small amounts of code
-
chassis
-
electrical
-
drive-train
-
etc.
-
-
-
explain the chassis and describe why we chose this model
-
3 wheeled drivetrain
-
1 motor up front
-
1 motor to steer
-
we chose this model because it is relatively strong and easy to understand
-
does not require previous understanding of material
-
social people time
-
Be in groups of people similar to your age and who you would feel comfortable with working with
-
Does not have to be the group you will be in all year long
-
In fact it probably won't be
-
Deal with it
-
I mean splitting people up.
basic tools
try not to die yet.
- duct tape
- 80/20's
- zip-ties
- "2-zies"
- duct tape

- wire-strippers
- zip-ties

distribution of jobs
no you're not getting paid. calm down.
-
Four people for collection of materials, tools, and other items such as electronics and motors
-
they will be in charge of making sure we get these materials back
-
-
One person to get the instructions from us
-
(will be printed out before hand and hopefully us on the screen
-
-
Three people to work on electrical system
-
wiring motors, controllers and, nxt
-
-
Four people to directionally build on the robot
-
(everyone is encouraged to be in the process of building the robot)
-
there will be no complete model available
-
this is to make sure the kids can think for themselves
-
-
the instructions will be intentionally vague
-
this is to make sure that even the people who don't want to directly work on the robot can interpret the directions
-
-
-
These parts sizes can be changed should the person in charge of that 1 area fell that it is necessary
hold your horses now, chaps
settle down and try not to break anything. Start working. Seriously. Please.
hold your horses now, chaps
